Traffic Light Pole Struck, Gets Stuck in Drunken Driver's Truck
Driver continued home with the traffic light still stuck on his vehicle, police said. In another case, a driver who struck an I-94 median had heroin and marijuana in his truck.

A suspected drunken driver struck a traffic light pole and drove home with the light pole stuck in his truck, police say.
It was one of two recent hit-and-run, drunken driving crashes in the city. According to police reports:
- An off-duty Brookfield police officer saw a truck knock down a traffic light pole about 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim and Lisbon roads. Debris was left in the intersection, but the pole got stuck in the truck, staying there as the driver, a 40-year-old Brookfield man, continued home, parking on his front lawn in the 18400 block of Arden Avenue.
The officer said he heard someone trying to jump a fence, and saw the man stagger and fall down. The driver failed field sobriety tests and a blood draw was taken, the results of which were not available. He was referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's office for a state charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
- A pickup truck slammed into a concrete median on I-94 near Sunnyslope Road about 10:15 p.m. Nov. 14. The truck continued west, exited at Moorland Road and parked in the lot at Brookfield Square mall.
The driver, a 22-year-old Helenville man, was very agitated and pacing. As he leaned against his truck, a small bag fell out of the leg of his pants. Police also found syringes, 0.67 grams of marijuana and 0.26 grams of heroin. He was arrested for third-offense drunken driving, operating a vehicle after revocation and possession of marijuana and heroin.
