Waukesha County 4-H Award Winners Announced
The Waukesha County 4-H program has more than 500 youth participants. Here's who earned top honors this year.
WAUKESHA, WI -- Members of the Waukesha County 4-H were honored at an awards banquet at the New Berlin Ale House for their 4-H and Waukesha County Fair achievements.
The 4-H Achievement Medal went to Mackenzie Norem and Josh Peterson for their growth and excellence in their 4-H project work learning life skills in the program.
The 4-H Citizenship Medal went to Amara Bugenhagen and Lyta Muszytowski for distinction in their community service work.

The 4-H Leadership Medal was awarded to Joelle Heller and Emily Udulutch for superior demonstration of youth leadership in the 4-H program.
The Wisconsin 4-H Key Award Program recognizes a select group of 4-H participants who have demonstrated consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills and actively participated in the functions of their 4-H club and community. This year’s recipients are Charlie DeCloux, Sean McGrath, Lyta Nicoll, Mackenzie Norem & Tyler Norem.

The highest Waukesha County 4-H award is the Danforth Award. This Leadership Award was first offered in 1941 by William H. Danforth. Danforth was a successful businessman who dared young people to achieve their highest potential and to influence others through lives of leadership and service. This year’s 4-H Danforth Award winners are Sean McGrath and Mackenzie Norem.
This year’s State Conference Scholarship winners are Marlee Koplin, Katie Sindorf, Brooke Brady, Carsen Rajnicek, Aiden Guzman, and Nelson Luecke. Jess Hughes will be travelling on the 4-H American Spirit Trip, where youth learn about America’s heritage and build awareness of the many steps taken to gain U.S. independence and freedom by visiting historical sites in Philadelphia, New York, Boston and more.
The Clientship Washington Focus experience brings 4-H delegations from all over the country to stay in the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Participants learn about the roles of Senators and Representatives in the United States’ government and how these parts work together to form an effective Congress. Additionally, youth get to see and experience government in action by meeting with their State’s members of Congress and watching a House of Representatives meeting. Delegates also participate in various educational workshops and activities. The 4-H members selected to receive a scholarship for this travel are Josh Peterson, Sophie Winiecke, Cameron Bandomir, Amara Bugenhagen, Dalton Pfaff and Joelle Heller.
National 4-H Congress is a five-day Educational Experience held in Atlanta, GA. Congress is the premiere nation-wide event for 4-Hers to network with others from around the country, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
While at Congress, 4-Hers engage in leadership, citizenship, global awareness, and inclusion. Waukesha 4-H members Sean McGrath and Charlie DeCloux were honored with this experience. Finally, Amara Bugenhagen has been selected to attend the prestigious National 4-H Conference, held at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
National 4-H Conference is the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture’s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth in developing recommendations for the 4-H Youth Development Program. At the same time, the conference is a rich and meaningful experience for the youth.
