Waukesha County Sets New COVID-19 Case Record

Waukesha County has recorded two of its highest 24-hour COVID-19 case counts in consecutive days.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Waukesha County set a new COVID-19 case record this week, and has recorded two of its highest 24-hour case counts in consecutive days.

On Monday, Waukesha set a new record with 78 new cases. The next day, they recorded 71 new cases. Those top the previous record, which was set on Friday with 69 cases.

For the next-highest case count, you have to go back to May 27 when 52 cases were recorded in the county.

Authorities say there are 163 more active COVID-19 cases in the county than there were a week ago. According to county data, there are 491 active cases in the county as of Wednesday.

Health officials say 1,312 cases have recovered.

There have been 40 COVID-19-related deaths in the county to date — one more than a week ago.

Friday was a high-water mark for positive case percentage in Waukesha county, when 11.7 percent of all tests came back positive. Since then, the percentage has dropped: 7.3 percent on Saturday, 3.5 percent on Sunday and 7.3 percent on Monday. The positive case percentage has gone slightly up over the last 14 days according to county data, and is hovering between 6.2 and 6.5 percent over that time.

The City of Waukesha has the most confirmed cases in the county with 492 — 50 more than last week. New Berlin has the second most-numerous case count with 217 — an increase of 64 over a week. Menomonee Falls ranks third with 169 cases as of Wednesday.
