Franklin Fire Department Trains, Responds And More: Roundup

The Franklin Fire Department trained for emergency response to the large quarry in Franklin, responded to a kitchen fire and more.

FRANKLIN, WI— The Franklin Fire Department recently trained to respond to emergencies at the Payne and Dolan Quarry, dispatched a full assignment to a house fire and prepared to replace one of its fire engines, according to a statement from Franklin Professional Firefighters IAFF L-2760 union.

The union released the Franklin Fire Department week in review for June 13-June 19.

Each of the three fire department shifts went on a tour that week of the Payne and Dolan Franklin Aggregates Quarry. Firefighters were trained on how to address the unique hazards present when responding to an emergency at the mine, the statement said.

The department also acknowledged praise from a community member. The individual openly thanked the department for its response to a situation involving a child. Firefighters were "great and patient," during the situation, the Facebook post read.

Firefighters also responded that week to a house fire near 6800 West Pineberry Ridge. The department responded to the fire alongside help from the Greenfield, Oak Creek and Milwaukee Fire Departments, the statement said.

Responders found a kitchen fire and were successful in quickly extinguishing it with no injuries reported, the statement said.

The fire department is also gearing up for a replacement of one of its fire engines. The truck has been in service since 2002 and is scheduled to be replaced with a few tweaks to improve safety and maintenance, the statement said.
