Brain Tumor Survivor Living Active, Healthy Life
Greendale's Kevin Svoboda will be the master of ceremonies for the Step Up to Better Health Greendale Community Walk on June 15, 2013.
Kevin Svoboda was excited to learn about the Greendale Community Walk after he and his family moved to the village last August.
The walk is a fundraiser for the health initiatives in Greendale and the American Brain Tumor Association, and the 38-year-old Svoboda is a brain tumor survivor.
Originally diagnosed in 2003 when he was 29, Svoboda had the tumor removed. It came back three years later, but after surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, he’s been living well and healthy for seven years. (Listen to his story in our Patch video!)
Svoboda, a physical therapist with Accelerated rehabilitation centers in Franklin, Brookfield and other nearby locations, will serve as the master of ceremonies for this year’s Ste Up to Better Health 15th annual walk to be held June 15.
The walk begins at the Greendale Gazebo on Broad Street and Schoolway at 9:30 a.m. Day-of-event registration begins at 9 a.m.
Register online at www.abta or print off a form at www.greendale.org/walk. Forms are also available at the Greendale library, schools Walgrees and the Park and Recreation office.
The cost is $15 per adult 18 and over. Children are free. The first 100 paid registrants receive a walk t-shirt that can be picked up at the event.
