Leaf pickup will run from Oct. 12 through Nov. 6.

GREENDALE, WI — With fall in full swing, leaf pickup service is returning to Greendale later this month.

Residents are reminded to rake leaves into piles between the sidewalk and curb and only move them into the street — two feet from the curb — the day before pickup.

The village said public works only picks up leaves and grass clippings. Other plant materials including vines, branches and logs are not picked up, nor are gravel or trash bags.

If leaves continue falling after Nov. 6, the village will continue picking up leaves until they stop or until the first snowfall of the year.

The village offers helpful tips for leaf collections:

  • Never pile leaves within 10 feet of a storm drain
  • Wet down piled leaves to stop them from spreading
  • Never park a car over a leaf pile
  • Leaves can be mulched with a lawnmower to simplify collections
  • Leaves can be bagged and taken to the Yard for disposal
