Greendale Cautions Residents About Water Lateral Insurance

Though a mailed advertisement, HomeServe USA Repair Management Corporation recently urged a significant number of Greendale residents to take out insurance polices covering water laterals through that company.

The advertising materials tell residents they are responsible for lateral repairs between the village’s right-of-way and their house and solicits insurance coverage for the laterals.

Village of Greendale officials, in a press release Tuesday, said homeowners are in fact responsible for those costs, but cautioned owners to check with their own insurance company to see if they are already covered for a lateral damage incident, or if they feel such coverage is needed.

The village added it does not endorse HomeServe, nor is it affiliated with that company.
