Greendale Cheerleaders Take Fifth At Nationals

In 2018, the championships involved more than 800 teams, 15,000 athletes, and 50,000 attendees, according to tournament coordinators.

GREENDALE, WI — The Greendale High School Varsity Cheer finished fifth in the nation at the 2018 National High School Cheerleading Championship held February 10 and 11, 2018.

The team competes in the Super-Large Varsity Division and performed three times over the course of the competition held at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida.

The National High School Cheerleading Championship is considered by many to be the leading cheerleading championship in the U.S. Championships are held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and nationally televised.

In 2018, the championships involved more than 800 teams, 15,000 athletes and 50,000 attendees, according to tournament coordinators.

In order to compete, teams must attend a Varsity Spirit Camp and participate in the Squad Credentialing Program in order to be eligible and receive a bid at a 2018 Fall Qualifying Tournament for the 2019 championships.
