GREENDALE, WI — Greendale Schools’ French language program recently received an exemplary award from the American Association of Teachers of French. This award recognizes the outstanding quality of the schools’ French program.

Greendale is one of ten programs in the country to earn the award in 2020, school officials said Friday.

Greendale Schools offers French as a World Language elective course beginning in sixth grade at Greendale Middle School. Study of the language is offered to students in grades six through 12 at Greendale Middle and High schools.

The program makes use of innovative and creative methods in teaching, gives standards-based assessments, and offers numerous cultural activities beyond the classroom, school officials said Friday.

Greendale high school participates in the AATF National French Contest and inducts students into the National French Honor Society, with many honorees annually.
