Greendale Hosts School Board Meeting Online Amid Coronavirus

Greendale school officials addressed teacher pay, the superintendent position, the union contract and leave pay in an online meeting format.

GREENDALE, WI — The Greendale School Board is pushing ahead with business after the new coronavirus public health emergency forced schools to close and limits on mass-gatherings.

The Board of Education continued open meetings in a digital format beginning with a meeting on Monday, March 23, at 7 p.m.

School officials took up several new items on Monday, including the appointment of Amidzich as the full-time superintendent; approval of the 2019-20 agreement with the Greendale Education Association; approval of the 2020-21 teacher compensation model; authorizing pay status for school staff during emergency leave, and approving general contractor pay guidelines.

The meeting took the place of the meeting that was postponed on Monday, March 16, because of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

"Digital format meetings will allow the Board to continue to conduct the business of the district in a transparent manner and continue to allow for public participation," Greendale Interim Superintendent Kim Amidzich said in a letter issued Monday morning.

Greendale Board of Education Open Meetings will be conducted using the online meeting platform ZOOM. The public may watch the meeting live streamed on the district’s YouTube Channel.

The Board will continue its policy of welcoming citizen comments during meetings.

According to district officials, persons wishing to address the Board are asked to email citizencomments@greendaleschools.org or call (414) 423-2701 at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

Comments submitted will be read by an administrator during the public comment portion of the agenda. To be included in public comment, the citizens are asked to include their name and address.

Comments received without a name and the address of the person submitting the comment will be shared with the Board in writing, but not included in the public comment portion of the meeting. Comments submitted after 30 minutes prior to the meeting will be read at the next Board meeting.
