Greendale Police Warn Residents Of Amazon, Apple Scam
Police said scammers are calling Greendale residents and using the names of two popular companies, Apple and Amazon, to rip people off.
GREENDALE, WI — The Greendale Police Department said Wednesday that Amazon and Apple scams are making the scene once again.
According to police, in both versions, residents may receive a call or text message from "Amazon" or "Apple" saying there is something wrong with their account. It could be in reference to a suspicious purchase, a lost package or an order they can’t fulfill.
However, police are warning residents to not fall for it. These scammers are simply trying to steal their personal information, such as their account password or credit card number.
"If you think there might be something wrong with your Amazon account or your Apple iCloud account, contact those companies directly with numbers you know are correct," police warned via social media.
If you get an unexpected call or message about a problem with any of your accounts, hang up.
