Greendale Releases Back-To-School Plan, Childcare Options
Childcare questions were among the most talked-about among Greendale parents, district officials said.

GREENDALE, WI — The wheels are turning for the Greendale School District's fall back-to-school reopening plans, which feature in-person instruction, digital learning and a number of child care options.
In a plan released Friday for the first time, Greendale public school parents have the option of sending their children back to school in-person this fall via a hybrid model, or keeping their students home under a digital learning model.
On Tuesday morning, the district sent out a registration email to parents, asking them to pick the right option for their children. Officials hope parents submit the forms by Thursday for planning purposes.

According to the plan, elementary school students who choose to go back in-person would be in schools Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and have Wednesday as a digital learning day. Although all schools would be cleaned every day, Wednesday would be set aside for deep cleaning.
Middle and High School students going back to school in person would have two days at school and three digital days. According to the district's plan, students whose last name begins with letters A through K would go back Monday and Tuesday. Students whose last name begins with letters L through Z would go back Thursday and Friday.

Greendale's back-to-school plan was rolled out to parents on Friday. Superintendent Kim Amidzich made a presentation before the school board Monday night, and registration forms were sent out Tuesday morning, officials said.
Child Care Questions
Greendale School District spokesperson Kitty Goyette told Patch that child care questions were among the most talked-about concerns from parents as they get ready for the fall school session.
Goyette said the Bridge for Kids plan that's run by the Park and Rec department will be operating five days a week during the school year. More information about registering for Bridge for Kids will be posted during the week of Aug. 17, she said.
In addition to Bridge for Kids, Greendale officials are also hosting in-school child care for students 13 years old and younger on the Wednesdays that they are not in school.
Goyette said the district-run child care would be held in students' respective school buildings in order to keep school groups together.
