Greendale School Survey Due Tuesday; District Plans For Fall
Greendale parents have through Tuesday to fill out a survey about what they'd like to see when school resumes in fall.

GREENDALE, WI — Greendale parents have through Tuesday to fill out the Greendale School District's community survey, as district officials work on a plan to reopen schools in fall amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Wisconsin.
Greendale district schools closed on March 16 as a result of the pandemic, followed by the introduction of remote learning options for middle and high school students the same week.

Now, after the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction published guidelines for reopening in the fall, Greendale officials say they're working out the particulars for how school is going to look later this year.
"Our primary goal is for students and staff to return to a safe environment," district officials said in a statement. "[A] group of district administrators, teachers, other staff members and the Greendale Health Department has been meeting since May to discuss the various frameworks for how school might look when we reopen for learning for the 2020-2021 school year."

Officials say they've been meeting weekly to work out plans centered around the following topics:
- Health and safety measures.
- Learning.
- Practices and Procedures that align with local, state, and federal laws and guidance.
- Supportive Relationships and Effective Communication with students, families, and the community.
"There are important decisions to be made that take into consideration health department guidance, student and staff health checks, cleaning recommendations, and capacity of our learning spaces," the district said in a statement. "We are using the reopening guidelines from our state and federal health officials to help us make these decisions with the health and safety of every student, family and staff member at the forefront of our minds.
