Greendale Schools Recognized As One Of Country's Best Communities For Music Education

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) recently named a number of Wisconsin schools as some of the best in the country for their outstanding music education programs.

NAMM awarded 527 districts with Best Communities for Music Education and 92 schools with the SupportMusic Merit Award. This is NAMM's 18th year of presenting the awards.

A NAMM press release states that a recent study of students in Chicago Public Schools showed that participation in music education programs helps improve brain function, discipline, and language development.

Wisconsin school districts that received the Best Communities for Music Education Award: Chilton Public Schools; Delavan-Darien School District; Glenwood City School District; Greendale Schools; Hortonville Area School District; Hudson School District; Kenosha Unified School District; Kettle Moraine School District; Kimberly Area School District; Manitowoc Public School District; Platteville Public Schools; Pulaski Community School District; Ripon Area School District; School District of Elmbrook; School District of Fort Atkinson; School District of Jefferson; St. Croix Falls School District; Sun Prairie Area School District; United Community Center; Watertown Unified School District; West Allis-West Milwaukee School District; Whitehall High School District; Whitewater Unified School District.

Wisconsin schools that received the SupportMusic Merit Award: Chippewa Falls Middle School; Richland Center High School.
