Greendale Veterans Memorial Sets Groundbreaking Date

The community helped raise more than $300,000 to make it possible, organizers said. The public is invited to a groundbreaking:

GREENDALE, WI — One week before the 2019 Memorial Day weekend, shovels will strike the earth as organizers take the first steps toward constructing the Greendale Veterans' Memorial.

Organizers say a groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the future Memorial Site at the corner of Broad Street and Southway will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m.

Parking at Greendale High School is encouraged and a shuttle is being provided from the parking site at the high school to the Memorial Site.

After the program, members of the public are invited to the Fellowship Hall at the Greendale Community Church for light refreshments.

The rain date will be on Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served on site as the Fellowship Hall is not available on Sunday.
