"We are sad to share that as a result of the current COVID pandemic and the need to provide appropriate social distancing and to assure the safety of our guests, community, and vendors, the Greendale Lions will be regretfully cancelling the Family 4th Fest for 2020," organizers said. "Thank you for your interest in our festival and for supporting the Greendale Lions Club."
The annual Greendale tradition was scheduled to run from July 2-4 in Downtown Greendale. Last year's festival was held at the Historic Hose Tower, 5699 Parking Street and featured rides, live music, craft beer and other festivities.
Fireworks Still On
Greendale's 2020 Fourth of July fireworks will be happening after all, but it's going to be a secret where they'll be lit off until about an hour before the show.
Greendale officials said they're lighting off fireworks from an "undisclosed location."
In an effort to maintain social distancing, Greendale officials said they will not be announcing the launch location until one hour prior to the show. The show begins at dusk, and the announcement will be made at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
"Residents are encouraged to stay home and enjoy the show, or if necessary park legally to view them from a closer location while maintaining social distancing," officials said. "The launch site will be closed to the public and no onsite parking is available."
Residents will be notified of the launch site location via Greendale’s Reverse 911 system, Greendale’s Website and Facebook pages.
Greendale’s Reverse 911 Telephone Notification System gives the Village the ability to notify residents by delivering a recorded message via telephone.
