Manhunt Underway For Escaped Milwaukee Inmate

Authorities say that Douglas Slock II is at large, and that the officer who was guarding him has been suspended.

MILWAUKEE, WI -- An inmate escaped the Milwaukee County Jail and the correctional officer who was guarding him has been suspended, officials say Wednesday morning.

Officials in Milwaukee County say that Wednesday morning at about 4:50 a.m. an inmate assigned to work duty ran from the dock area where the inmate and a correctional officer were taking out trash.

The inmate, Douglas Slock II, 45, of Greendale, had been arrested and has been in custody since Sept.30 on charges of his fifth drunk-driving offense, and prior burglary and bail jumping charges.

Authorities say he remains at large. Officials in Milwaukee County say that Slock is 5-feet-8 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has short gray hair. He was wearing dark blue jail pants
and gray T-shirt.

The U.S. Marshals Task Force and MCSO detectives are searching for the inmate. The MacArthur Square parking structure was closed during the initial search, reopening just after 7:00 a.m.

Sheriff Richard Schmidt has suspended the correctional officer pending an internal investigation.
