According to the police logs, the man was walking around the mall, attempting to leave his bag somewhere.
Police say the man then threw the bag in some bushes and ran away, prompting the response from the Bomb Unit. Police found no bombs, but they did discover marijuana in the bag. The man who ditched the bag was later arrested for obstruction and drug possession when he returned to the scene of the crime, report logs said.
A Greendale resident was also subject to a scam involving rental cars and gift cards. Police said the victim had attempted to rent a car through Enterprise and was told to pay using gift cards.
The victim paid about $550 in gift cards to the scammers posing as Enterprise, according to police logs. The Greendale resident subjected to this scam is not alone, though. Enterprise has warned that there are pre-paid gift card scams floating around.
Enterprise said on its website that gift cards are never used, and that payment is only taken at the end of a rental. The car rental company said that payment is never taken over the phone.
