Man Stole, Pawned Father's TV and DVDs, Police Say

A 31-year-old Greendale man was charged with misdemeanor theft after allegedly stealing from his father, with whom he lived.

A 31-year-old Greendale man who allegedly stole and pawned his father's flat-screen television and about 100 DVDs has been charged with misdemeanor theft.

According to the criminal complaint, the father returned from a business trip Feb. 28 to find his TV and DVDs missing from his Greendale apartment, which he shares with his son, and no signs of forced entry.

Police investigating the case discovered the TV and DVDs were pawned at West Allis stores PawnAmerica and Record Head, respectively. Video surveillance and paperwork from PawnAmerica showed the 31-year-old man selling the TV, while he was also listed as the seller at Record Head, according to the complaint.

The theft charge carries a maximum sentence of nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines. However, since the man was convicted of a felony within the last five years—he pleaded guilty to armed robbery in 2012—he could face up to two years imprisonment.

An initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday.
