McDonald's Giving Students Free Breakfast Sept. 12
Students can choose between fruit and oatmeal or an egg white muffin.

Back by popular demand, McDonald’s restaurants throughout Southeastern Wisconsin will offer free breakfast to all students from 6 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, while supplies last.
Students can choose either one free Fruit & Maple Oatmeal or one free Egg White Delight Muffin.
To take advantage of the one-day offer, students are required to be accompanied by an adult or show a student I.D. The program is aimed at generating awareness for the academic benefits of eating a healthy
breakfast.
“Breakfast gives great health benefits such as boosting energy and providing more focus during the day,” said Dr. Veronica Gunn, medical director for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Community Services. “Aim for a small portion of protein plus a carbohydrate for a balanced breakfast to get your student a healthy start to the day.”
The Fruit & Maple Oatmeal is made with 100 percent natural whole grain oats and topped with about a half cup of fruit, including raisins, cranberries, and red and green apples. The Egg White Delight Muffin is made with 100 percent, freshly grilled egg whites, extra lean Canadian bacon and stacked on a toasted English muffin made with eight grams of whole grain.
"Whether you eat at home or on-the-go, we want people to understand the importance of giving kids the right start to the school day with a meal that prepares them for the day ahead,” said Robert Pyles, local McDonald’s owner/operator and president of the southeastern Wisconsin co-op.
"This event is designed to call attention to this important message at the start of the school year so that all students will have a healthy and productive school year.”
Local McDonald’s restaurants first offered the free breakfast event in September 2012. The participanting counties are Milwaukee, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha.
