Meet David Schindhelm, Candidate For Greendale Trustee

GREENDALE, WI — Wisconsin's spring 2020 primary will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18. In Greendale, voters will statewide and county races on the ballot, but have to wait until April 7 before they see local races on their ballot.

David Schindhelm, a longtime Greendale resident and current sales consultant, is one of three candidates who will be on the April 7 ballot for Village Trustee.

Schindhelm said his top two issues in the community relate to keeping local property affordable for Greendale residents, and keeping roads in good repair and safe for motorists.

"I have listened to many residents concerns (especially from our senior community) about the affordability of Greendale with regards to property taxes and how many of our residents are struggling to keep their homes or have simply decided to move," he said to Patch.

"Our roads are in great need of repair. I will advocate for fixing our roads starting with Greendale’s arterial roadways. Making sure these funds are available and appropriated accordingly and not diverted towards less urgent issues will be a priority," he said to Patch.

Corporation.

Political Experience:

None - which based on my campaign platform, this is actually an advantage for me, for my duty will only be to the hard-working, taxpaying residents of Greendale.

Top 1 or 2 Leading Issues:

Issue#1: I have been a resident of Greendale for 30 years. There have been a lot of changes in
our community but one issue that doesn’t seem to change is consistently high property taxes.
Greendale has been one of the highest taxed districts in the state.

I have listened to many residents concerns (especially from our senior community) about the affordability of Greendale with regards to property taxes and how many of our residents are struggling to keep their homes or have simply decided to move.

Many of these residents are now on fixed incomes having lived in Greendale most of their lives. Renters are also affected by high property taxes through higher monthly rental payments. In my opinion, financial oversight and accounting have been questionable in our community. I will seek to control property tax increases by reviewing current expenditures and making sure money spent is for the benefit of all Greendale residents and not just special interests. Greendale is a wonderful community and we need to keep it affordable for everyone.

Another issue is infrastructure. Our roads are in great need of repair. I will advocate for fixing our roads starting with Greendale’s arterial roadways. Making sure these funds are available and appropriated accordingly and not diverted towards less urgent issues will be a priority.
