Kathleen Wied-Vincent is running to retain her seat on the Greendale School Board. Here are the top issues as she sees them.

GREENDALE, WI — Kathleen Wied-Vincent, an eighth-grade ELA teacher, is looking to retain her seat on the Greendale School board, and will be on the ballot on April 7.
Wied-Vincent said her top two issues heading into the campaign center around addressing equity and the selection of the new superintendent, Kim Amidzich.
"I take my role as a School Board member seriously and am dedicated to ensuring that our district has the best person possible serving in this capacity," she told Patch. "I have been listening to the voice of students, parents, staff members and community members in regards to the best decision regarding our recently appointed superintendent, Kim Amidzich. Top Issues in my campaign and how I’ve been addressing them: I believe the most pressing issues facing Greendale School District at this time are the work surrounding addressing equity issues and also selecting and overseeing the new superintendent.
First, regarding the equity issues I would continue the in depth work that I have been doing through my continued involvement on the Equity Steering Committee and also my continued work with the Policies and Procedures Sub Committee that is working in conjunction with the Village of Greendale.
The four subcommittees have been working hard together to address the areas of need in our district and community. Further, I would continue my work on the School District Policy Committee where I have been working with other committee members on new policies and also creating language in all policies that address matters with an equity lens. I am proud of the work that has been done so far since my position on the Greendale School board. I truly care about what is best for all students and I’m dedicated to make positive steps to ensure that all students feel accepted and a sense of success in Greendale.
Second, the selection of a new superintendent has been a primary focus for me at this time. I believe that this, being the most important role of the School Board, has been at the forefront of my decision making at this time. I take my role as a School Board member seriously and am dedicated to ensuring that our district has the best person possible serving in this capacity. I have been listening to the voice of students, parents, staff members and community members in regards to the best decision regarding our recently appointed superintendent, Kim Amidzich. I am confident that Kim possesses the necessary skillset to lead Greendale School District forward.
An interesting fact about myself:
I am the first woman through-hiker of Wisconsin’s 1,000 mile Ice Age Trail (hiked in 1997 with my at the time 2 year old daughter-the youngest through hiker and her dad); https://www.iceagetrail.org/list-thousand-milers/ ; I enjoyed meeting hundreds of people from all over the state as a result of this hike. Along with my love for the outdoors I have worked in interesting roles such as working with animals at the Milwaukee County Zoo in my role as a Children’s Zoo Attendant and also as a caterer for the Milwaukee Brewers at the former County Stadium
