GREENDALE, WI — A local mother thinks it might be a good idea for mall officials to enforce a curfew after what she saw at Southridge Mall on a Saturday night earlier in November.

The video was recorded from a safe vantage point on the mall's second level as chaos unfolded below her. The video shows several teenagers embroiled into a scuffle that resulted in punches being thrown. One person wearing a white tank top is seen rapidly punching his victim to the point where he fell to the ground, where he was continually punched.

In the video, a mall security officer quickly appears on the scene, and the primary assailant and several others with him, go running down the mall's main thoroughfare. The incident happened just outside the food court area.

The video only lasts about 12 seconds, but memories of the chaos will go on much longer. As of Monday, the video has already been viewed more than 130,000 times.

"About an hour into us being there, there was 50+ kids running crazy throughout the mall," she wrote on social media shortly after the incident.

The mother said the food court became inundated with teens. "I couldn't even get food where I wanted to, because there were so many kids standing at multiple food places, acting like they were ordering something so that they didn't get in trouble or kicked out of the mall," she wrote.

The mother said she would be interested in seeing mall officials increase security measures similar to those in force at Mayfair Mall - where parents need to accompany teens during certain weekend hours.

"This is just absolutely ridiculous," she wrote. "I really think they need to enforce a curfew time at Southridge Mall, just like they have at Mayfair Mall."
