New Jersey Woman Suing the Milwaukee Brewers

Before the game, she suffered an orbital fracture to her left eye socket, nerve and iris damage, and a concussion.

WISCONSIN -- A New Jersey woman is suing the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team after she sustained multiple injuries as a spectator seated in the stands.

According to a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Dana Morelli, 47, of Glendora N.J. was struck below the left eye by a batted ball during pregame batting practice in an Aug. 6, 2014 game versus the San Francisco Giants from where she was seated just beyond third base.

According to the lawsuit, Morelli sustained multiple injuries, some of which may be permanent, and incurred medical and hospital expenses and lost wages. It said she suffered an orbital fracture to her left eye socket, nerve and iris damage, and a concussion. She had to stay in a dark room for several days before she could return home to New Jersey, Michael Sperling, Morelli's Milwaukee attorney, said to the Journal Sentinel.

According to the Journal Sentinel report, the lawsuit claims the Milwaukee Brewers and their insurer violated Wisconsin's so-called "safe place statute," saying they were negligent in failing to provide an adequate ball screen and warnings for foul balls.

Miller park recently extended their foul ball netting to the dugout area before the 2016 season, and has numerous signs posted on all concourses warning spectators to "watch out for flying bats and balls."
