Nourish Expo Puts Healthy Living in Spotlight

The third-annual event, to be held May 11, includes a 5k, lunches served by Greendale students, a keynote address and much more.

Healthy living will be the theme of the day May 11 when Greendale High School hosts the third annual Nourish Expo.

The event includes a 5k run/walk at 10 a.m., a keynote address on healthy living at 11:15 a.m. and lunches served by Greendale High School culinary students from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The expo opens at noon and features a bike helmet demonstration and giveaway, vendors, resource tables, exhibits and other activities related to living a healthy and environmentally-friendly lifestyle.

The event is open to the public, with free admission to the expo.

Participants in the 5k will follow a student-designed route through the village. The 5k is free, but advance registration is requested. Participants can get a T-shirt with a $10 donation, which benefits the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education.

The lunch provided by culinary students, for a nominal fee, will be prepared using ingredients made or grown within 150 miles of Greendale. Attendees are asked to register online for the three-course meal. Proceeds benefit the Hunger Task Force.

Betty Holloway, owner of Nutriphoria LLC, will give the keynote address, "Food in the Fast Lane." The presentation is geared toward fast-paced families, and offers tips on making good choices when eating out, healthy office eating and helping children develop healthy eating habits.
