Observe Memorial Day In Greendale: 'Walk To Remember The Fallen'

A 'Walk to Remember the Fallen' is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Monday during Memorial Day weekend.

GREENDALE, WI — Greendale will have a 'Walk to Remember the Fallen' on Monday to commemorate Memorial Day, according to a Facebook post from the Greendale Celebrations Committee.

The walk will start at 9:45 a.m. near Joey Gerard's in downtown Greendale. Participants will observe social distancing as they walk single file down Broad Street and end at the Greendale Veterans Memorial, according to a Facebook post by Herbert Ripka, the event organizer.

A short event will then be held at the Greendale Veterans Memorial hosted by Greendale American Legion Post 416 and Greendale VFW Post 10519.

The group will say the pledge of allegiance, give prayers to remember the fallen, read the names of deceased veterans from the past year, fire rounds in memory and play TAPS, Ripka wrote in the Facebook post.
