Portillo's Restaurant Moves Ahead with Plans for 84South Location in Greenfield
The Illinois-based restaurant opened to rave reviews in Brookfield last month and is already planning its second location
GREENFIELD -- Portillo's, an Illinois-based chain best known for its Italian beef sandwiches and Chicago-style hot dogs, is coming to the new 84South development between I-894 and W. Layton Ave. at S. 84th St.
The Milwaukee Business Journal says the Greenfield plan commission recommended approval Wednesday to the city's common council for the restaurant, which will have outdoor eating area and double drive-through lanes and serve alcohol.
Due to the popularity of the Brookfield location, Portillo's CEO said the company is already eyeing more than 10 locations in Wisconsin to grow its presence.

If the proposal is approved Aug. 16 by the Greenfield common council, the company plans break ground in the fall on the new location.
