Public Hearing Scheduled for Oak Leaf Trail Extension
Construction plans call for about 3,200 feet of off-road, 10-foot-wide, paved asphalt trail through the area.

GREENDALE – Milwaukee County will host a public information meeting presenting the proposed extension of the Oak Leaf Trail connecting The Rock Sports Complex, the City of Franklin commercial center, and the planned Franklin/Muskego bike trail systems.
The open-house-style meeting will be held Sept. 13, from 4:30–6 p.m., at the Root River Parkway Picnic Shelter No. 2, on the west side of Root River Parkway about one mile south of Grange Avenue.
Attendees may view displays showing the location of the proposed trail extension and project schedule.

Representatives will be available to answer questions.
The Bike & Ped Connectivity–Root River Parkway and Surrounding Areas Project will consist of an extension constructed of about 3,200 feet of off-road, 10-foot-wide, paved asphalt trail through the Root River Parkway and The Rock Sports Complex. In addition, a new bike/pedestrian bridge will be constructed over the Root River.

The trail will continue on road along Old Loomis Road east of South 76th Street, with a short section of off-road trail connecting the end of Old Loomis Road to the existing Oak Leaf Trail at the intersection of 68th Street and Loomis Road. The trail will be constructed on Milwaukee County lands and within existing street right-of-ways. No right of way acquisition is anticipated.
The project is partially funded by the Transportation Alternatives Program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
