Public Reading of 'Declaration of Independence' Set for 7th Year

Greendale's Fourth of July celebration begins with a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, a fitting tribute to the holiday from a village with a rich history.
The reading will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at the flagpole in front of Village Hall, 6500 Northway.
Volunteers from the community, including elected officials, police and fire personel, and business leaders, have been invited to read sections of the historic document. Volunteers will read a paragraph or part of a longer paragraph.
Other speakers and groups have also been invited. The public reading ceremony should be concluded by 9:15 a.m. The village's parade begins at 10 a.m.
It is the seventh straight year the reading kicks off the holiday's festivities.
