Suspicious Behavior in Parking Lot Leads to Shoplifting Arrest

A customer at Walmart, who called police because she saw a couple acting suspicious in the parking lot, helped Greendale police apprehend a pair of suspected shoplifters.

According to the Greendale Police Department media summary, the caller told police she saw people drinking beer in a minivan parked in the lot, and saw a child get out of the car to throw a beer can away at 6 p.m. Sept. 10.

Police checked on the occupants of the van, but did not observe anyone drinking alcohol.

While on the call, however, officers got another call about a retail theft at Walmart and observed a man and woman walking right toward them before turning and walking away.

Police questioned the suspects and found them to have $650 in stolen Walmart merchandise. Both people were arrested for receiving stolen property.
