Wisconsin Weather: Winter Storm To Bring 4-8 Inches Of Snow

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Monday. Here's what you need to know:

MILWAUKEE, WI -- The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Monday evening as a potentially heavy round of snow moves into our area.

According to the NWS, the Winter Storm Watch goes into effect at 6 p.m. Monday and extends into Tuesday as a low pressure system will bring between four and eight inches of snow across the area. The NWS is reporting that the snow will continue overnight and through Tuesday and be heavy at times, with the highest accumulations happening north of I-94 with lesser amounts in the southeast portion of the area.

Timing: The storm will reach Kenosha Conty by 6 p.m, Racine, Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties by 7 p.m. and Sheboygan and Fond du Lac Counties by 9 p.m. Monday.

Caution: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact both commutes on Tuesday.

Cloudy, with a high near 31. East wind 10 to 15 mph.

Monday Night

Snow, mainly after 8pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Patchy blowing snow between 2am and 5am. Low around 29. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tuesday

Snow. High near 30. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night

A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before midnight. Patchy blowing snow after 9 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
