9th Slice Pizza Opening In Newly Revamped Hales Corners Strip Mall

Owners say this is the first restaurant in Wisconsin to have a brick conveyor oven. Restaurant is slated to open this summer.

HALES CORNERS - The former owners of Jake's Deli are opening up a fast-casual pizza restaurant in a soon-to-be revamped Highway 100 strip mall formerly anchored by Kmart.

9th Slice Pizza Co. will open this summer at 5620 S. 108th St. with something unique to Wisconsin. Co-owners Gary Plassmeyer and Andrew Baer said it's the first restaurant of its kind in the state to have a brick conveyor oven, which gives the flavor of wood-fired pizza at a much faster speed. The special oven was built and shipped from Italy.

According to OnMilwaukee.com, Plassmeyer and Baer got the idea for the restaurant after visiting the Pie Five Pizza chain traveling in Texas.

The restaurant will feature specialty house pizzas, from personal size to 16-inch, a full-service bar, and other non-pizza entree options, which will be rotated to keep things fresh.

Having worked at Texas Roadhouse for 10 years franchising locations, Plassmeyer is already eyeing up ideas for future 9th Slice franchise locations.
