Reduced Cost Car Seats Available At Greenfield Event Next Week

GREENFIELD, WI — Car seats are an imperative tool for keeping kids safe in cars, according to the Center for Disease Control. Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children in the United States, but car seats can reduce the risk of injury in a car crash by 80 percent, according to the CDC.

The Greenfield Health Department and the Greenfield Fire Department have teamed up to ensure that everyone who needs a car seat for their kid can have one, according to a Facebook post from the health department.

Reduced cost car seats will be available on July 13 at Greenfield Fire Station No. 1. Styles include infant, convertible and high back booster seats, the Facebook post said. They will cost $20 to purchase, and are available to FoodShare recipients, participants in the Woman, Infants and Children program (WIC) and by consultation, according to the registration form.

The car seats are available by walk-ins and appointments, but registering ahead is recommended, according to the health department. This will be the last car seat event of the summer, according to the Facebook post from the health department.

Residents can register for the program online.

The Event will take place on July 13 from 2-6 p.m. at the Greenfield Fire Station located at 4333 S 92nd Street in Greenfield.
