Parents and children are invited to an evening full of fun stories, riddles and age-appropriate games with famed storyteller Pat Ryan on Thursday, January 24, from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Greenfield High School Performing Arts Center. This event is made possible by a grant from the Greenfield Education Foundation. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
Your children will be pestering you to take them to see Pat after his week-long engagement in School District of Greenfield elementary schools. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No child care will be provided.Â
Mr. Ryan has worked as a teacher and professional storyteller for over twenty years. He regularly tours Britain, Europe and the US performing, lecturing and conducting a variety of workshops. Mr. Ryan has written for the BBC and has also actively participated in several major storytelling projects, among them ‘Living Stories of the World’, a multi-cultural workshop for primary children in inner and outer London, and ‘Telling the Tale’ for Globe Education at the Globe Theatre.

For the second year in a row, Pat is working with School District of Greenfield educators and children. Students are having a great time hearing his delightful tales, at the same time they are learning valuable lessons in creative writing, language skills, vocabulary, comprehension, and more.Â
Mr. Ryan is also teaching teachers about recent research into relationships between narrative, cognition and child development, as well as reports on effective storytelling work in education in the USA, Canada, Britain, and Ireland. Educators are coming away with resources, ideas, information and at least three stories to tell their own students, whatever age the students may be.
