Grandson Stole Multiple Shotguns, Man Tells Police

On June 11, a man in the 7100 block of West Carpenter Avenue reported his grandson stole four to five shotguns from the residence in the last 10 days.

The case is still be investigated

  • A man, who was found passed out in the parking of Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., just after midnight June 10, was treated for a possible drug overdose and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. He was then arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • An employee at McDonald’s, 5040 S. 76th St., told police occupants of a tan vehicle became irate, got out of the vehicle and threatened him and another employee. The occupants told the employees they would come back to beat them up.
  • A driver pulled over for a traffic violation in the 4800 block of South 27th Street at 10 p.m. June 10 was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia.
  • A woman was advised about the legality of dumpster diving when police found her in the dumpster behind Half Price Books, 5032 S. 74th St., at 3:45 p.m. June 12.
  • An employee at Bartz The Party Store, 4150 S. 108th St., called police when a customer became irate and kicked the business’s front door, causing the glass in it to crack. The man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:15 p.m. June 12.
  • A resident in the 8900 block of W. Whitaker Avenue reported a birdbath was taken from his backyard sometime before 8 p.m. June 13. Similar landscape items were taken from the same residence about two weeks earlier.
  • A teenager, who was fond passed out on the northwest side of the cemetery at 4101 S. 43rd St., was arrested for prowling and underage drinking before being taken to St. Luke’s Hospital just before 8 p.m. June 15.
  • Police continue to investigate a possible online dating scam involving a Greenfield woman who told police she me a man who lives out of state on an online dating site and sent him a Blackberry phone and a $2,000 money transfer. She also has a check written out for him for $150,000 because the man said he was coming to visit next month.
  • A man stole a box of shrimp from Aldi, 4615 W Layton Ave., at 1:10 p.m. June 15.
