Greenfield Car Chase Ends With Man In Custody

Suspect was observed driving the wrong way, he then refused to stop, led the police on a car chase and tried to escape on foot.

GREENFIELD, WI —A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested early Wednesday morning by Greenfield police after refusing to pull over and trying to escape authorities in his car and then on foot, according to the Greenfield Police Department.

Police did not give the man's name, but said he was found to have a warrant out for his arrest. He was arrested for Operating Without a Valid Driver's License and Fleeing and taken to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility.

According to police reports, at about 1:34 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Forest Home Avenue, Greenfield police noticed a grey SUV driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, continuing westbound.

Authorities eventually deployed a tire deflation device near South 92nd Street and West Forest Home Avenue. The fleeing vehicle struck the device and its tires began to deflate. The vehicle was unable to navigate the roundabout in the 10600 block of West Forest Avenue and left the roadway, coming to a stop at the Emmanuel Church property.

The driver then exited the car and tried to flee on foot, but police apprehended him after a brief chase.
