Greenfield Heroes: Help Patch Recognize Those Making A Difference
We all know someone who's making a difference in this difficult time. Let's give them some of the recognition they deserve.

GREENFIELD, WI — The adage 'not all heroes wear capes' is one that's apparent in society now, more than ever. Countless people are putting themselves in danger by simply showing up to work in essential roles for our communities, risking possible infection from the new coronavirus. Doctors, nurses, police and grocery store workers alike are just some of the professions with a high potential for exposure to the virus.
Some of these everyday heroes we spot around town might not even be working at a job, like this California woman who organized a group of volunteers to make thousands of face masks. Or those who help with California programs delivering food to those in need.
In Waukesha, a crafter's touch, and a mother's empathy were all Jenn Collins of Waukesha needed when she learned how she could help health care workers during the coronavirus public health emergency. She created S-hooks that frontline health care workers use to secure their face masks. Workers quickly found out the new S-hooks worked better, and felt more comfortable.

In Racine, nurse Melissa Palacios organized a procession of cars to pass by the Ascension All Saints hospital to show support for frontline health care workers. The impact was immense as nurses, clinical assistants, emergency room workers and staff, donning masks and personal protective gear, stood in a line in front of the hospital's emergency room waving, and offering heartfelt thanks for the appreciation.
We know you've encountered or seen them around town, and we want to help recognize as many of these heroes as possible. Let us know about those making a difference in this difficult time by filling out the form below and we'd be happy to share their impact with the rest of the community.
