Greenfield PD Leads Investigation In Officer-Involved Shooting

The South Milwaukee officer involved in the shooting has been with the department for 22 years.

GREENFIELD,WI—The Greenfield Police Department is now leading the investigation into an officer-involved shooting in South Milwaukee that left one man dead.

South Milwaukee Police responded to a home in the 700 Block of Blake Avenue after a call about a suicidal person on October 19, at approximately 1:20 p.m.

When police arrived, they encountered the man on the porch of the home with a firearm. The man fired one round and one officer returned fire. The man was hit.

Life saving measures were immediately taken, according to South Milwaukee PD, however the 43-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

The South Milwaukee officer involved in the shooting has been with the department for 22 years, and as is customary with these type of incidents, he has been placed on administrative duty as the investigation continues, according to SMPD.

This is preliminary information based on initial reports of the incident, according to SMPD.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will investigate this incident.

The lead investigating agency is the Greenfield Police Department.
