GREENFIELD, WI — A 30-year-old Franklin man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he led officers on a high-speed chase through Greenfield earlier this week.

Brandon R. Deja has been charged with two counts of fleeing an officer and is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, an officer was on patrol on W. Morgan Ave. just before 2 a.m. on Aug. 21 when he tried to pull over the Nissan Rogue that Deja was driving because he was driving south in the northbound lanes along the 10700 block.

Police said Deja fled the traffic stop, accelerating to more than 100 miles per hour in oncoming traffic, leading to a high-speed chase. In their official report, Greenfield police said Deja got his car up to 112 miles per hour.

According to the criminal complaint, Deja eventually pulled over in the 3000 block of S. 84th Street in West Allis. Police said Deja stuck his hands out the driver's side window.

When police got out of their squads, Deja fled again, only to be cornered by police squads on the 8300 block of W. Arthur. Police said the total length of the chase was just under three miles.

Greenfield police noted in their report that Deja was driving with a revoked license.

When police asked Deja why he fled police in two separate traffic stops, he told officers he did not believe police were trying to pull him over, noting that his passenger was "yelling at him and telling him that the police were not trying to pull him over," according to the Greenfield police report.
