Hawks, Falcons Need Football Wins Friday for Different Reasons

Whether or not the Greenfield Hustln’ Hawks can put last week’s heartbreaking loss to South Milwaukee behind them in time for Friday’s showdown with Brown Deer will go a long way in determining if the Hawks can earn a WIAA football playoff berth.

Greenfield sits at 3-3 overall and 3-1 in league play after the Rockets earned a last-second, 23-20 victory over the Hawks last Friday. Greenfield needs a win to qualify for the WIAA postseason for the second time under coach Scott Otto, and visits Brown Deer (5-1, 3-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Quarterback Zach Braun, who has already amassed 1,134 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground this season, leads Brown Deer.

Whitnall, meanwhile, will be looking to avoid falling into a last-place tie when it visits Cudahy (1-5, 0-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.
