I really don't want to talk about the impeachment. It is a political stunt designed to further polarize the country and keep us fighting amongst ourselves and it seems to be working. However, as we sit here in Devil's Icebox, WI, there really isn't much else to discuss and I really can't skip two weeks, so here we go.
The whole thing is pretty straightforward...Trump didn't incite anything. He isn't liable for anything that happened. Could he have said something to try to calm down some people? Sure, but he was under no obligation to do so. Despite what some on the left may think, people are responsible for their own actions. Move Trump's speech from DC in January to Arizona in September and the narrative is the same. It is simply a campaign speech with all the same political rhetoric we have come to expect from both sides. In fact, if you listen to the entire speech, it is significantly lower energy than the average Trump rally speech.
There is also zero chance that there are 67 votes in the Senate to convict. Trump will be able to run again whenever he wants, if he wants. The Democrats have to know this. So why continue?

The Democrats need to drag this out as long as they possibly can because it draws attention away from Biden. Until they can get actual, non executive order related progress, there is nothing stopping the spotlight from exposing the glaring weakness in the oval office. The stimulus package will be their white knight. A temporary lifeline is enough to blunt the attacks that are going to be front and center once the impeachment limps to its inevitable, painful end.
Don't worry, they will always find something else for us to fight over. Beer Bug is still a thing. The midterms are right around the corner too. That's always good for a knock down, drag out fight. There is always another shiny object.
