John Mellencamp To Perform In Wisconsin This April

GREEN BAY, WI -- Get ready for the concert of the year with one of America’s greatest songwriters and rock musicians. The tour kicks off in Mellencamp’s home state of Indiana at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

Shows continue through Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, and Rhode Island. Mellencamp’s final night is at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 30th.

Mellencamp has been entertaining us for over 30 years, with his breakthrough coming with the release of “American Fool” in 1982 under his stage name Johnny Cougar. Known for his alternative country genre, Mellencamp is all about tradition, focusing on the roots of Americana rock. Nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, Mellencamp is hailed as one of the founding members of “Farm Aid”.

Need another reason to see Mellencamp live? In 2008 this American icon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And in June of 2018 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2001 Billboard Magazine said of Mellencamp, “John Mellencamp is arguably the most important roots rocker of his generation. John has made fiddles, hammer dulcimers Autoharps and accordions lead rock instruments on a par with electric guitar, bass and drums, and he also brought what he calls 'a raw Appalachian' lyrical outlook to his songs”.

Expect to hear both the old and new when Mellencamp hits the stage. The new will come from his latest album, “Other People’s Stuff”. His 24th studio album was an instant hit when it was released late last year. The album is his first since “Sad Clowns and Hillbillies” in 2017. The old songs fans are hoping to hear are considered to be Mellencamp classics, such as “Small Town” and “Jack and Diane”.
