Man Meets Woman, Woman Sleeps Over, Man's Truck Disappears

He tells police he was just giving her a ride and a place to sleep and she repaid him by stealing his vehicle.

A man woke up at his Greenfield apartment Saturday to find his black SUV had been stolen.

Who took it? A woman he had met just hours earlier.

The man told police he had stopped for cigarettes at the Mobil gas station at 3425 W. Oklahoma Ave. in Milwaukee on his way home from work at 12:30 a.m., according to the Greenfield Police Department report.

A woman, who told him her name was “Nancy” said she was in need of a ride to West Allis, and the man obliged. He told police on the way to West Allis, Nancy told him she couldn’t go home, so the man offered to let her sleep at his Greenfield apartment. He told police that at approximately 2 a.m., he went to bed and Nancy slept on the sofa.

Eight hours later, the man woke up and found his SUV – and Nancy – were gone.

The man, who according to the report was on parole for homicide, insisted no other suspicious activity took place between him and Nancy. Nevertheless, the man’s parole officer was made aware of the incident.

Four days later, the man’s vehicle was recovered in the 2400 block of South 6th Street, according to Greenfield Assistant Chief Paul Schlecht, who said two Milwaukee men and one Milwaukee woman were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle.
