Man Tried to Entice Girl to Get Into His Van, Police Say

The incident occurred Friday, March 22, near the intersection of West Cold Spring Road and South 81st Street.

Greenfield police are looking for a man believed to have tried to entice a young girl to get into his vehicle.

A grandmother reported her 11-year-old daughter had just gotten off the school bus around 3:40 p.m. March 22, near the intersection of South 81st Street and West Cold Spring Road when a white male in his late 20s or early 30s asked her to get in the vehicle.

The vehicle was described as a new model silver minivan with sliding door on passenger side.

That and the following incidents were included in the Greenfield Police Department log for the week of March 18-24:

  • A 40-year-old woman was arrested for theft after she sold an engagement ring she stole from a home in Greendale to Robert Haack Diamonds in Greenfield March 22.
  • A 7-year-old boy was transported to the hospital by the Greenfield Fire Department after he fell out of a shopping cart at Pick ‘ Save, 4455 S. 108th St., in Hales Corners. Greenfield police were called for mutual aid, but the call was canceled prior to arrival.
  • An iPod was reported stolen from the parking lot of Lightspeed, 4251 S. 27th St., sometime before 4:20 p.m. March 23.
  • A caller reported to police he saw a man kick the door and shatter the glass at Speedway, 6000 W. Layton Ave., just after midnight March 24. The caller told police the man jumped into a gray Impala occupied with two or three other males and sped off.
  • An employee at Exquisite Threading, 4969 S. 76th St. called police to tell her her husband hit her and chased her to the businesses where she locked herself inside around 10:30 a.m. March 24. The battery occurred in Milwaukee, and Milwaukee police responded to the scene.
  • A resident in the 9300 block of West Cold Spring road reported a 200 S10 Chevrolet truck stolen from the garage sometime before 11 a.m. March 24.
  • A woman in the 5900 block of South Phillips Street told police that while she was incarcerated, her mother stole from her. Turns out the woman gave her mother permission to use her credit card while she was locked up but didn’t like some of the things the money was spent on and contacted police. The woman was advised it was a civil matter.
  • A 43-year-old woman believed to be intoxicated was escorted out of El Beso, 5030 S. 74th St. numerous times the night of March 24 but kept returning to the restaurant. When police arrived, they took the woman into custody for disorderly conduct and found she was in possession of narcotics as well.
