The Monkey's Paw of Politics

"In life, as in chess, forethought wins." - Charles Buxton

As I write this, the state of Texas has initiated a lawsuit against several states over their administration of the election in November. Not only is this a last ditch Hail Mary play, but, if they are not careful, could have repercussions that could ripple through this country for decades to come.

We will set aside the merits and details of the case for another post. The mere fact the case is brought is potentially devastating. Should the Supreme Court take up the case, they set precedent for any other state v. state election lawsuit. That would mean any case, regardless of the absurdity of it, would have to be taken up by the court. Voter ID, purging of voter rolls, absentee rules, even poll opening and closing times...all could be under attack by activist DA's throughout the country. Anything a red state does that a Democratic DA doesn't like will have a lawsuit against it.

I don't have to point out how far liberal activists will go to get their way. There are burn scars all across the country as evidence. Are you really willing to give them another tool in their arsenal?

Over three quarters of the states are now involved with this case on one side or the other. The pressure on the Justices is going to be immense. There will be no winners.

I know I am in a significant minority. Probably a minority of one. I would rather speak my mind than follow blindly.

Rush is probably right. We are creeping towards secession. So be it. I'm too old for that kind of thing. Revolutions are for the young. I will defend myself if it becomes necessary, but that is a different rant.

Buckle up. Everyone will lose; many will not even understand how or why it came to this. 2020 was just a prequel. 2021 looks to be a doozy.
