Not Very Stimulating

I sure hope you didn't spend that stimulus check yet, because it isn't coming. At least not while Trump is in office.

If the fact that House Democrats lept to agree with Trump after four years of doing everything possible to make everything he did a massive effort didn't set off blaring alarms in your head, then it should have. Pelosi announcing that they are willing to pass it by unanimous consent should make you pause, if not stop entirely.

Make no mistake...no matter what you may think, Democratic leadership in both chambers are a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. You only need to look as far as the pages of the New York Times to see the narrative. Trump gave Democrats an opening to make our lives difficult while blaming him and they jumped at it like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat.

I really can't even blame Trump for wanting to help the people. I think the stimulus should be $0 with restrictions lifted, but that is a different argument. I adore the idea of getting the pork out of the omnibus spending bill, but that is where we are going to get screwed.

The problem is that the omnibus bill is attached to a larger package that will, if passed, prevent a government shutdown. Trump and the Republicans are under immense pressure to keep the government open. If the Democrats try (I wouldn't put it past them) to attach the new stimulus checks to the omnibus again, that is going to cause an issue. An issue that won't be resolved by January 20th.

I could be wrong. It is possible that Democrats are willing to give Trump a highly visible win. There is a first time for everything I suppose.
