When Does School Start in Greenfield?

Summer vacation is – gasp – nearing its end already, which means it’s time for back-to-school preparations.

Here are some important things you need to know as the first day of school in the Greenfield School District fast approaches:

When is the first day of school? We’ll start with the easiest question of all. For all six Greenfield schools, it's Tuesday, Sept. 3, the day after Labor Day.

But there are other important dates on the calendar you need to know, like early dismissal dates and days when there is no class (Oct. 25 is the first one of those!).

OK, I know when the first day of school is, but when does class start? It’s a good thing you asked because some start and end times for the 2013-14 school year are different than previous years:

• High School: 7:30 a.m. - 2:41 p.m.
• Middle School: 7:30 a.m. - 2:41 p.m.
• Edgewood Elementary: 8:45 a.m. - 3:26 p.m.
• Elm Dale Elementary: 8:45 a.m. - 3:26 p.m.
• Glenwood Elementary: 8:45 a.m. - 3:26 p.m.
• Maple Grove Elementary: 8:45 a.m. - 3:26 p.m.
• AM Jr. K: 8:45 a.m. - 11:21 a.m.
• PM Jr. K: 12:50 p.m. - 3:26 p.m.

We’re new to the area and I haven’t enrolled my student yet. What do I do? There are three days of registration for students attending Greenfield High School this fall:

• Freshmen: Tuesday, Aug. 13, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
• Sophomores: Tuesday, Aug. 13, 12:30-3:30 p.m.
• Juniors: Wednesday, Aug. 14, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
• Seniors: Wednesday, Aug. 14, 12:30-3:30 p.m.
• Make-up: Thursday, Aug. 15, 8:30-11 a.m.

Registration for the Greenfield Middle School is from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15.
