Wisconsin State Fair is (Literally) Closer Than You Think

The Wisconsin State Fair kicks off the start of August with the first day of its 11-day run at State Fair Park in West Allis.

Not sure how this happened so quickly, but August is already here, which means two things:

We can finally say the House of Harley-Davidson party is later this month, and the Wisconsin State Fair opens.

Just up the road from Greenfield - 3.48 miles, to be precise (I checked) - you'll find cream puffs, pig races and all the food on a stick you can, well, shake a stick at as the Wisconsin State Fair gets under way and runs through Aug. 11. There are admission discounts just about every day.

You'll find everything you need to know on the fair's website.

What else is going on Thursday? Just across city limits in the other direction, a new sports bar and grill is opening in downtown Greendale.

Panther Pub and Eatery is opening to the public for lunch Thursday.
Owner Mike Drilling's new restaurant on Broad Street is the newest attraction to the village, and will be serving lunch at 11 a.m.
