Betsy DeVos Isn't In Milwaukee—But Her Ginormous Yacht Is

MILWAUKEE, WI—U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is always a lightning rod for attention given her conservative view points. But, here in Milwaukee today, the attention isn’t on her, but on her $40 million yacht, SeaQuest, which is moored in Milwaukee Bay.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, the 163-foot boat was docked near Discovery World Ltd. at the east end of East Michigan Street, according MarineTraffic.com. The boat is owned by DeVos and her billionaire husband, Dick DeVos. Its home port is in the Cayman Islands.

The presence of the vessel had people speculating on why it's here.

Betsy DeVos, however, is not onboard the vessel or in Milwaukee, according to a report from the Milwaukee Sentinel. The U.S. Department of Education web site shows that she was in various places across the central United States last week on her Rethink School tour, which she concluded on Friday in Indiana and Missouri.
