Coronavirus: Milwaukee Considers Closing Some Streets
In order to give pedestrians and bikers more space, a report said, Milwaukee officials are considering closing certain streets.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee is considering a partial street shutdown in order to bolster social distancing in the city to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, according to a report. ABC12 reported the city is considering the plan which was recently enacted in Madison.
The plan would give streets to people walking and biking to essential jobs or outside for their own personal well-being, an official said, according to the report. There is no timeline or list of potential streets to close at this time.
"Sidewalks are not even 6 feet wide. So you have all these people competing for space plus cars. It gets really hard," Madison Pedestrian Bicycle Administrator Renee Callaway said, according to the ABC12 report.
